Trailer Analysis #3

Face of Fear

The title itself 'Face of Fear' connotes the theme of horror violence dramatic scenes. Face of Fear could also connote a character that represents fear. The sound used was different music and wasn't mainstream which sounded like a background theme meaning the events of the trailer could be the actual acts or meaning to the rest of the song. The sound was just a background beat and there was drums and it was building up and the sound of the background music was deep leading to a climax.

The lighting of the trailer and the beginning institution that was used, Warner Bros pictures was dark lighting. The use of the dark clouds were all conventions used to create a frightening climax to the trailer in order to fulfill the titles credentials. The dark clouds connotes dark and intensifying trailer.

The Mise-en-scene used in the trailer was the costumes which where not items in which represent horror such as ripped and blooded clothing it was a casual theme which creates a sense of a pulsating trailer because the attitude and first impressions where normal and this will be able to add to the audiences reactions of seeing everyday normal people to be murdered.

The setting of the trailer was in a backyard and specifically a shed in which one of the characters came out of the shed with an axe.Which was convenient for the genre of the trailer to appear in an area where a possible murder could take place. The actors' expressions were shocked expressions which went well along with the background music which began to speed up and build up the excitements and the tensions. The make-Up used for the main character was black eye-liner used all around the eyes where the character can emphasize his expressions well.

The Editing used in the trailer was cut and fade in and out at a slow pace the camera movements were low and at times zoomed in and out.

The appeal of the film is probably aimed at over 15's- 35 possibly a younger audience due to the age of the characters it is more likely to be aimed at a young audience who find horror films interesting and entertaining.

The Representation of the film is horror and the trailer provided the features of what a horror trailer should establish such as the music the camera angles and the editing.

Overall, I thought the trailer was excellent exceeded expectations of what is needed for a horror trailer. what i particularly liked was the acting skills was excellent especially of the main character the music and the timing went especially well with the acting skills to provide a thrilling horror trailer.
